Minigame tournament Cube Championships has released some new teasers for the event’s return in January – here’s what we know so far.
“From being a little passion project Velvet thought up, to then getting me on board, to collating a wonderful and supportive staff team (love you guys!), to partnering up with the guys at InsideMC, to now – it’s been a wonderful year for us, and we’re ever so grateful for the support and passion we’ve seen people have towards our once-little event!” co-owner SomethinglikeAmy wrote in a Discord announcement at the end of October. “As we’ve declared it as a season change, we’re looking to make big changes to the event’s structure, presentation and games.”

Now, some of those changes have been teased in a new trailer released on the Cube Championships YouTube channel – the main one being the reveal of a new PvP game, known as Stratopoint. This will join the rest of Cube Championships game roster, which consists of Crumble Rumble, Boom Spleef, Hunting Haven, Rush, Sharpshooters, Building Blitz, and Collectathon for the first event of the season. Collectathon is also receiving a rework for Season 2 – teased in the trailer by the map changing from a survival world to a grid-style map.

More details of the new games and changes are expected to come in an update video closer to the event. There won’t be long to wait, because Season 2 will kick off on Sunday 11th January with Cube Championships #5. This will be followed by the content creator roster version of the event (Cube Creator Championships #5) on 18th January. “The event feels quite a bit improved, especially with a new server and more games,” co-owner VelvetAshes tells us, “so I’m looking forward to being able to host them for the players.”
Applications for the content creator roster are open here, and are expected to remain open throughout the season.
