One final frenzy as minigame tournament announces last official event

Wraithzeon 15 September, 2025 3 min read

One year on from the first Fusion Frenzy in September 2024, the tournament has announced their final “canon” event.

The event began as a crossover between two others – PET and TCC – but was later developed into its own stand-alone project.  Since then there have been seven “canon” tournaments, as well as some additional special events such as “Pride Party” (raising money for Stonewall), and “Fresh Faces” (an event for newcomers).

“Noru, vDawg and I all feel that we are getting to a point where we are losing time for the event, with all of us moving on with our lives, leaving us little to no time to even think about Fusion Frenzy,” event owner Tails wrote in a Discord announcement.  “As well as this, we have mutually started to lose motivation, and personally I’ve had a constant atmosphere of stress around the event.  Therefore we feel that development should stop, to allow us to focus on our lives.”

While this will be the last “official” tournament, the event is hoped to continue to some extent.  “What we aim to do is get Fusion to a state where an event can be hosted with little to no development at all,” Tails wrote, “therefore giving us the ability to keep the event alive, whilst not having the huge work load created for us, so we can keep Fusion somewhat alive as we do enjoy hosting.”

“Creating Fusion was one of the best experiences of my life, and I never will regret it,” Tails wrote.  “It has brought me closer to the fantastic Noru and vDawg, and I’m forever grateful for all of their help and support.  From the DM that started it all, to now, I have loved almost every moment of it and I am going to miss it – and I think the others could say the same.”

The announcement was understandably met by disappointment from the community, alongside well wishes for the organisers for the future.

“I’ve always had fun with the event (bar finales because I lost both times) and it’s sad to see it end,” wrote Den15 in Fusion Frenzy’s community Discord.  “Genuine props to you all, and thank you for the silly times we were able to play the event.”

“I’m really glad I at least got my chance to play in it before the final event,” Sacronix wrote.  “The one time I got to play officially was amazing, and I’m super grateful for everything this event is.”

Fusion Frenzy #8: The Final Frenzy will take place on Saturday 27th September at 8pm BST / 3pm EDT.
