A new update has been released regarding the production of the highly anticipated game, but unfortunately, it’s not what people had hoped for.
Noxy, the CEO of Hypixel Studios, has announced the end of the studio’s original game development project, Hytale. In the announcement on Twitter/X, Noxy shares his sadness with their decision. “This is not the outcome any of us – at Hypixel or at Riot – wanted,” Noxy writes, “but after years of pushing forward, adapting, and exploring every possible path, it became clear we couldn’t bring Hytale to life in a way that truly delivered on its promise.”

Hytale has been quite a popular topic amongst Minecraft enthusiasts. The production began back in 2015 when the creators of Hypixel Skyblock decided to venture out of the limitations of Minecraft to create their own adventure. They wanted to create a new fantasy game inspired by Minecraft’s classic voxel style, with options to play in minigames, fight bosses, or build a home and farm. With the help of Riot Games, who then bought the studio in 2020, the hype for this open-world sandbox increased markedly.
Sadly, all of their ambitions outgrew their limits. “We looked at reducing scope, adjusting timelines, and finding new angles to keep moving forward,” Noxy writes, “but each of those options would have meant compromising on what made Hytale special in the first place.”
Noxy clarifies on the official post that this won’t affect the Hypixel server on Minecraft, and that their original minigames will continue to operate as usual.
