Have you ever dreamed of playing in one of the biggest Minecraft minigame tournaments, alongside some of the most well-known streamers in the Minecraft space, and with collectively thousands of viewers tuning in to watch?
On occasion, even the biggest events provide opportunities for smaller content creators and viewers to play. Recently, Block Wars opened up five player slots to allow for a full team of newcomers in Block Wars Brawl – a more competitive variant of their regular tournament. Prospective teams could apply by making a short application video with their team, showcasing why they should be selected. We interviewed the five successful candidates!

AbolishRegret is no stranger to making successful video applications – you may recognise him from last year’s MCC Rising. A creator on both Twitch and YouTube, his versatile content includes playing on SMPs such as LineSMP, competing in events, and taking on fun challenges with friends.
“I’ve watched Block Wars since its early development, and I’ve wanted to play in an official Block Wars for the longest time,” Abolish tells us. “Block Wars Brawl finally gives me that opportunity to play! I’m really excited to see how I compete with the other players, and see where my skill set is compared to them.”

“I signed up for Block Wars to prove I can do anything RiceInRealTime can,” his teammate ImTwiggy jokes.
Having played in MC Mania, Biome Battle, One Shot Royale, JCGN Novus, Knights Of The Square Table and many more, Block Wars is one more event to add to Twiggy’s vast event player portfolio. They also play on a number of minigame servers, and describe themselves as “a fiend for anything Cobblemon”.
“I was curious if Abolish was going to apply, since we teamed together in my favourite event to this day – Biome Battle Mini #2,” Twiggy says. “I’d already been looking for an event to run it back in. Then Abolish made the team from scratch, and suddenly I’m in Block Wars!”

“Minecraft content is my bread and butter!” says the team’s third player, Jawunleashed. “Whether that be livestreaming or crafting videos – don’t look at my upload schedule – I love taking aspects of Minecraft and turning them into unique experiences for my audience. I often lean into the comedic aspects of my personality to bring the streams to life, because I want to ensure each one is as entertaining and fun as possible no matter what the main focus of the stream is!”
While Jawunleashed typically plays games for fun, he can also be very competitive when he wants to be – and sees Block Wars Brawl as an opportunity to bring together those parts of his personality. “I look forward to genuinely trying hard while still maintaining that fun, entertaining energy,” he says, “and if we win, you can expect a TON of clips!”
“The Minecraft event community as a whole is always such a joy to be a part of, so being able to play in a unique Block Wars spin-off event is going to lead to shenanigans that I can’t wait to share with everyone,” Jawunleashed continues. “I’ve been working hard to improve my technical Minecraft skills, since parkour and movement are some of my favourite aspects of the game. Trailblazers is the game I’m looking forward to, and I think I’ll do fantastic in it – but I will say, Tomb Titans holds a very special place in my heart, due to my love for high-pressure dungeon crawling experiences. If Tomb Titans is in rotation, I’m ready to lock in!”

Another MCC Rising alumni, LynxyLiam is the team’s fourth member – streaming Minecraft events, modded Minecraft, SMPs, as well as doing variety content such as horror games. He also organises Minecraft charity event partnerships through his “Shine Brighter” project.
“I’d always wanted to play in a canon Block Wars, whether that be Origins or Main Event,” Liam says, “and having the chance to do it with some of the amazing people that I not only met through the MCC Rising experience, but with amazing people I found after that, was a choice I couldn’t turn down. I really love the friends I applied with, and when they asked me I knew that this team would be iconic, and I’m glad people like our vibes.”
“I think the idea of Block Wars Brawl is cool, giving it a different feel to the main Block Wars events,” Liam tells us. “The video application team is a nice touch, because it opens up a slot for maybe smaller event players to fight in a Block Wars, and see if they can play the games we all talk about being able to play well.”

Last but not least is Phaanity, who makes a wide variety of both gaming and non-gaming content – including Minecraft, Pokemon, indie games, Just Chatting, art, playing guitar, and more. Keen on storytelling, Phaanity makes lore content whenever she gets the chance.
“I think I’m the most excited to get to play and practice for the event with my team,” Phaanity says. “They’re all really lovely and funny people – even just getting to film the application with them was so much fun.”
“Applications were during a really busy period of time for me, between finals and projects for college,” Phaanity continues. “I didn’t want to put together a team and then not be able to pitch in much. Then Liam messaged me saying his team needed another member and that they didn’t mind my busy schedule. It was too perfect and the team vibes were amazing during the recording session, and now we’re here! I’m so glad I got to apply, and insanely grateful to my team. I can’t wait to get to make new memories with them now for the event!”
You can watch Abolish, Twiggy, Jawunleashed, Liam and Phaanity in action in Block Wars Brawl, this Saturday (24th May) at 7pm BST / 2pm EDT, on their respective Twitch channels.
