Spotlight On: Blissful Championship

Wraithzeon 28 June, 2024 2 min read

Blissful Championship is one of the most open events in the minigame field, in that instead of having to be invited to a pool of contestants before you can sign up, each event has applications open to the public. There are opportunities to sign up roughly every 3 weeks. I asked event owner MacFarout to tell me more about the studio, the event’s games, and how to apply to take part.

Blissful Studios is the casual Minecraft event hosting network behind Blissful Championship, their custom event that consists of 6 minigames per event, followed by a finale game to decide the winner between the top 2 teams. Outside of the event itself, the server has a large and growing community, with lots of opportunities to get involved with playtesting, watching the event, or to sign up to play in the event itself.

The current games on the roster are:

  • Survival Games but Fast – a fast-paced, free-for-all PvP game that revolves around positioning and combat. There are 4 fast rounds played on a variation of maps, each with a special gimmick.
  • Survival – a conglomerate of different, smaller minigames based mostly around surviving as long as you can.
  • Flee The Falling – a parkour race against lava to get to the top of a giant tower, with the parkour getting increasingly difficult as you progress, played across 3 rounds with different maps for each round.
  • Spleef – players are given tools to mine the blocks beneath their enemies’ feet. Every 30 seconds there is a new type of spleef, with new items to fight with.
  • Crypts of Calamity – a fast paced dungeon crawler with the objective to mine gold for your team. There are rooms filled with puzzles, mobs, parkour and even boss fights for you to face.
  • Race Stars – a movement-based racing game with the objective to finish the track as fast as possible, testing your skills with boats, horses and elytra.
  • Countdown – a parkour/PvP hybrid game with the objective of building up time during a parkour section, to spend it on weapons to get kills in a PvP section.
  • Knockoff – a round robin PvP game with an objective of knocking the enemy off the map. There are also mineable crystals in the map that offer a secondary objective to gain points and bring strategy into play.

About every 3 weeks, Blissful opens an application form in their Discord for an event the following week, with priority given to active community members.
