Picking flowers just got deadly in new event by leg.gg and 4CVIT

Wraithzeon 7 May, 2025 7 min read

What happens when you combine a wholesome activity like flower-picking, with one hundred players fighting to the death?  That’s what Flower Frenzy – a partnered event between Minecraft server leg.gg (owned by Legundo) and Twitch/YouTube creator 4CVIT – is here to find out.  Ahead of this Saturday’s event, we interviewed this duo about the ideas behind it, their partnership, and what to expect from the event.

“Flower Frenzy is a collect-athon game where players are attempting to get as many flowers as they can before time runs out,” Legundo explains.

“Points are calculated for quantity, variety, and rarity,” 4CVIT adds.  “Each flower is given a unique point value based on the rarity that it is interpreted as.  So the more flowers you collect, the more points you gain!  Bonus points are awarded for the amount of unique flowers collected by each individual on the team, so having variety is the most important factor.”

“It really opens up a lot of different potential routes to get to high-scoring flowers,” Legundo says, “and we hope that will lead players to take different approaches in the event.  Flower-picking might sound really simple, but with limited map space and a Mega-Flower that spawns and is worth a lot, we think we’ve made something that will have players interacting with each other in really interesting ways.”

“With it being a truly vanilla Minecraft world, combat, redstone, exploration… almost anything is possible!” 4CVIT adds.  “I always felt it was like a fun mix of SMP and event gameplay, which can provide a lot of cool opportunities.”

The original concept for the event was come up with around five years ago by 4CVIT.  “When I was younger, I used to watch videos of people racing to collect all of a unique type of item, for one-off videos with friends,” he explains.  “One day I was thinking of what item would be the hardest or most fun to fully collect – which formed Flower Frenzy!  People tell me it reminds them of Bingo, which is funny because back then I didn’t even know what Minecraft Bingo was!”

4CVIT hosted the first iteration of Flower Frenzy back in 2021, with a considerably smaller cast of somewhere between fifteen and thirty players.  “People loved it!  I always wanted to rerun the event but with better coding, since the former event was all manually calculated without any use of plugin help.  For the past three years I’ve been concepting game design in the background of projects, and it finally was made possible after speaking with Legundo.”

“I’ve been looking to grow leg.gg and do more things, and I have a post-it note on my computer that’s basically my goals for 2025,” Legundo says.  “It says one thing: Make Cool Sh*t.”

“About five or six months ago, right after I had released the minigame Blowout, 4C came to me telling me about something that he had done a long time ago that he was hoping to modernise into a new event and game,” Legundo says.  “The concept was really cool, so I was down!  Then came the holidays, then our two back-to-back subathons, and then it was March before I could finally work on the thing – but the event came together really quickly.”

“I’ve come up with several similar concepts for this game variant, but Flower Frenzy has always held a special place in my heart,” 4CVIT says.  “It’s got so much gameplay potential and unique possibilities – people don’t realise how many flowers exist at the end of the day.  It also brings awareness to other parts of Minecraft itself, as there’s a lot of things people don’t see from typical events.”

“It’s such a deceptively simple concept,” Legundo adds, “but in the right hands, it’ll be chaos.”

Speaking of the right hands, Legundo and 4CVIT working together seems like a natural partnership.  “It’s been great working together,” Legundo says.  “I love making games and new experiences in Minecraft, and partnering with 4C has just been really smooth.  Plus, I have experience and infrastructure in place with leg.gg, so a lot of the groundwork was done before we even started.”

“I handle all of the development and design of the game itself,” Legundo continues.  “Code comes naturally to me, so making this was honestly really laid back.  I checked back on stream and I had done all of the development for this in about a month, so it all came together pretty nicely.”

“Legundo was able to bring out the concepts and game design I created in a way I never expected,” 4CVIT says, “which has made the event more clean and polished than ever before.”

While Legundo has been working on the code, 4CVIT has been working on all of the player management tasks and promotion of the event – alongside leg.gg staff LynxyLiam, HiImCC, and WadeBox, the three of whom will also be competing in the event themselves.  “I want to shout them out for all of their massive help with management along the way,” 4CVIT says, “as without them, it’s likely this event would not be happening as it is right now!”

“We’ve made some AMAZING teams,” Legundo enthuses.  “I cannot wait for people to see the roster we have, because it’s something that should feel somewhat familiar, but also really fresh.”

The teams have been announced on the leg.gg X and Bluesky accounts.  The cast features one hundred content creators, including members of the Lifesteal SMP (which 4CVIT plays on), Minecraft Championship and MCC Rising players (Legundo being MCC Rising alumni himself), and a selection of other names that many readers will recognise from well-known events, SMPs, and other projects from all over the Minecraft community.

There’s lots to be excited about – for the players and viewers, and of course for Legundo and 4CVIT themselves.  “I’m most excited to see everyone in the community come together to play my game,” 4CVIT says.  “Flower Frenzy has been sitting around for such a long time, and to see it finally come to life in a real hundred-creator concept is something I never thought I’d be able to pull off.  Being able to reach out to so many creator friends I’ve made over the years to take part in this event has been such a joy, so I can’t wait to see them all take part!  I’m so curious and excited to see what people come up with to optimise the flower collection process.”

“It’s going to sound weird, but when the finale music is playing and we’ve made it through the whole thing – that’s when I think I’ll be the most excited,” Legundo says.  “We’re very much hyping this up as a first real splash into the event scene, and having the event run successfully, of seeing the clips and moments our players will make – that’s what I’m most looking forward to.  Everything along the way is super exciting still, but some of my favourite moments of any big event or undertaking is the post-ending cooldown chat between players, creators, and the community.  I can’t wait to get to that point because it likely means we’ve run a new successful event, and really stamped our name out.”

Despite the excitement, the organiser duo still have some nerves.  “We’ve been testing constantly, but there’s always a risk that something unexpected happens,” Legundo says, voicing the fear of many an event organiser.  “With this many creators, we can’t just say “all right everyone hold on” and stop things.  Especially with this kind of event, there’s no pausing – once we start, we’re seeing this through.  The testers have found all sorts of fun ways to break everything for me, and I’m doing my best to make sure this thing is as stable as possible going forward.”

“I have full faith in Legundo and his team when it comes to the internal game development,” 4CVIT adds, “but there’s so many possibilities of things that could happen during the event.  Having to manage over a hundred people is a tough feat, and the likelihood of people dropping out or running into difficulties is very high.”

“While we do have things in place for if any issue were to occur, making sure everyone has a good and enjoyable time in the game is something I want to happen,” he continues.  “With this being my first real big event I’ve managed, the nerves are high, but the planning is higher!”

While it’s still to be determined whether Flower Frenzy will be a one-off creator event or part of a longer series, there are certainly some more plans in the works for it.  “I’m really excited to incorporate Flower Frenzy into leg.gg both as an event and as a public game down the line,” Legundo says – and even beyond Flower Frenzy, the future looks bright for the leg.gg server.  “We’re just getting started here.  I’ve been working on leg.gg for a while, and in the last year we’ve made games like Extraction, and Blowout, and now Flower Frenzy… and there’s two more big game projects in the pipeline coming probably in the next month or so.  I’m really excited for what the future looks like, and I just hope people are expected to not only watch, but play some of these games really really soon.”

You can watch Flower Frenzy across the participating creators’ channels on Saturday 10th May, starting at 7pm BST / 2pm EDT.
