Spotlight On: MC Mania

Wraithzeon 28 June, 2024 3 minutes read

What sets this minigame tournament apart is that it’s less competitive than most others in the scene. If you’re looking for a for-fun event, this one may be for you! I asked Mania’s owner, NotJustin_, to tell me more about the event, what makes it unique, and what type of players they’re looking for for their roster…

MC Mania has been in the event scene for a little over a year, throughout which they’ve experimented with features including team sizes, number of games in rotation, and team mascots – and now they’ve reached the point where they’ve found the structure of the event. Mania is promoted as a very “for fun” event, with no stats sheets or official records anywhere unless taken note of by the players. Most games are intended to rely on teamwork and communication, rather than pure skill – and competitiveness is optional.

The event is constantly getting new updates with new players, new games, and changes to the current games based on player feedback. There’s a wide variety of games, for example chaotic and intense PvP game “Eruption”, in which players must fight but also watch out for the rising lava – as well as more individual based games such as “Panic” – a parkour game that challenges you to make strategic decisions in order to make sure your timer doesn’t run out, whilst also still gaining points for your team.

Another thing that sets Mania apart is that it’s held earlier in the day than many similar events, taking place at 4pm GMT / BST – reducing the chance of scheduling conflicts and allowing some of its creators and viewers to play / watch multiple events in the same day.

July will bring a return to Mania’s “canon” events (which they haven’t done since March), as well as some fresh faces to the player roster. Mania has a private roster which they recruit from, and to join you must be invited by their Player Manager, AJX, or their owner, NotJustin_. Right now, they’re especially looking for creators who perhaps don’t regularly play in Minecraft events – giving the opportunity to experience something new and have fun whilst doing so.

If that sounds like you, or you’d like to be considered for future openings on the roster, you can contact the owner via X @flynn_tic or @mc_maniaevent.
