Spotlight On: MC Mayhem

Wraithzeon 28 June, 2024 2 min read

MC Mayhem was started back in 2019 when its owner, Shalomanon was just 13 years old. Years later, Mayhem has grown massively, with an event every month, a continuous stream of new content to get excited about, and peaks of over 4,000 live viewers. I asked Shalomanon to tell me some more about the project, and about how to get involved…

MC Mayhem (MCM) is a passion-ran Minecraft event, owned and created by Shalomanon back in 2019. Originally, it started out as a 1.8 event, with Shalom’s end goal to make it to the standards of Minecraft Monday. Years later, Mayhem has seen great success and support from the rest of the event community, growing to a peak of over 4,000 live viewers in Season 27 (i.e. the 27th event).

Today, MC Mayhem is ran on the latest Minecraft versions, utilising mechanics from recent versions to create unique and enjoyable minigames, with each game ranging in skill-sets (combat, building, team co-ordination and more). With nearly every event, you can expect new updates, whether that be in relation to development, or the player roster – the team behind the event are committed to providing new content, improving, and keeping the event feeling fresh.

Each event features 32 players (in teams of 4) who compete in 7 minigames – plus a bonus finale minigame for the top 2 teams).

The main appeal for MC Mayhem lies in the chaotic nature of each event – from intense comebacks to underrated contestants getting a chance to prove themselves. The event also features audience interaction in the form of the half-time audience takeover poll, in which viewers can vote for which minigame will be played next.

In June, MC Mayhem hosted their Pride 2024 non-canon event in collaboration with MC Mania, where they together raised over $3,200 for Stonewall Foundation – a great showing of the communities’ dedication and love for Mayhem, and the MC event scene in general. Thanks to the support from the community, they will be hosting a viewer event in September, as it was their final donation goal at $1,500 – so keep an eye out for announcements regarding that!
