Minecraft minigame tournament Pandora’s Box is on hiatus until later this year. Here’s what we know…
“While Dragon Pit was a huge success, the staff team put in hundreds of combined hours and has led to many of us requiring some time to breathe,” the staff team wrote in their announcement on X, with “Dragon Pit” referring to a non-canon Pandora’s Box event that took place back in November. “Additionally, that event taught many of us new skills and lessons which we would love to apply to the event. In other words, the quality of Dragon Pit showed us that we have a lot to improve with our regular event, and we’re very excited to show you all what we’re working on.”
Dragon’s Pit received a lot of praise from the Minecraft event community when it was released, from both players and viewers alike. “Hades Havoc and the entire event was incredible, can’t wait to see the next projects the team will work on!” Kaos21a, a recurring Pandora’s Box player, wrote about the Dragon Pit event on X. “I’m so glad to have been apart of Pandoras Box since the beginning, and I know there’s so much more to be excited for!”
“The whole event was so incredibly immersive and exciting to watch,” wrote Arrow (@arrowwho_ on X). “The way you guys approached the minigame format with the added storytelling elements was simply genius. Massive props to everyone who was involved in making this wonder of an event happen.”
With such high and widespread praise for Dragon Pit, it’ll be interesting to see how the organisers apply their learnings to the main tournament. That said, the hiatus and reasons behind it are not all of the announcement’s news. Despite the main event being on break for an indeterminate amount of time, the post also teased that the Pandora’s Box team might host “something special” during the time they’re on break. What that is, we’ll just have to wait and see – but it appears that, despite any disappointment caused by the delay before the next event, Pandora’s Box fans still have much to be excited for in the future.
