I chatted to co-owners Bex (SummerRejects) and Steve (SteveStreamsUK) to find out more about their variety Minecraft event studio, Reject Events.
So what types of event does Reject Events make? “Chaotic ones!” Steve laughs. “In all seriousness, though, Reject Events runs a huge variety of events to cater to every skill set. This could be based on a single minigame – like Bingo or Bedwars – or a variety of minigames.”
“The events allow everyone to take part no matter what their skill set is,” Bex adds. “The idea is to create events where people can have fun in taking part, whether they’re a content creator or not, and be able to meet new people along the way!”

Founded in July 2021 by SummerRejects, the studio started out with Bedwars tournament Bedtime Showdown. “It was the first event we did, and being the start of the journey, it has a place in my heart,” Bex says.
“I was scared to start Reject Events, but I am so proud of what it’s become, and how we are able to make people smile and feel included. I’m also so proud of the team we have behind us, as without them we would never be able to do what we do.”
Now, nearly four years on from the first Bedtime Showdown, the studio has seen both Bedtime Showdown sequels and a variety of other events – including battle royale game Rejects Royale, hide & seek event HQ Hideout, and series inspired by “Double Life” and “Secret Life” from the Life Series.
Both Bex and Steve agree on Campus Chaos – a variety challenge-completing event – making their favourites list. This was Reject Events’ first big completely custom event, having been built from scratch rather than being reliant on external assets. “So much passion and time went into it,” Bex tells us. “People seemed to enjoy the chaos of the event – no pun intended.”

“It was so much fun to do the coding for the event,” Steve adds, “and our builders team did an amazing job. Honestly, I would do that event again. Campus Chaos 2 anyone?”
Whether or not a sequel happens, there’s certainly a few events lined up for before then. “On Monday we’re running a really cool Bingo event in collaboration with Winterland SMP!” Bex says. “Eight teams of three are coming together to see who can get a Bingo the fastest.”
The event will be raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity that helps fulfil the wishes of critically ill children. “As with any event Reject Events is part of, there will be fun and chaos, with some, let’s say… interesting incentives,” Steve says.

This Bingo event will be Steve’s first event as a studio co-owner, with him having recently moved up from the general management team. “I used to do everything alone, and it was hard to manage – so in comes Steve to assist!” Bex says. “I think Steve being an owner with me just makes sense – I know he has as much passion as I do when it comes to Reject Events, so splitting tasks is kind of just normal for us.”
“Even as the tech manager, I would be in charge of the technical aspects of the events, with Bex taking the lead on the social media and team management,” Steve adds, “but the whole Reject Events team works together as one to make every event possible.”
“Before joining Reject Events, I had basic knowledge of Java, and was able to only code some little bits,” Steve says. “Being at Reject Events enabled me to build on that knowledge, and now I am able to code custom plugins almost every event. I’ve also loved meeting people across the event community and build some lifelong friendships, which I wouldn’t have done if I wasn’t part of Reject Events.”
Monday’s Bingo charity event isn’t the only production coming up for the Reject Events team. Whilst still in the planning phase, and it being too early for much in the way of teasers, Bex and Steve could share one thing – that their next project will be a murder mystery-inspired event. What that will involve, we’ll just have to wait and see – but as a rarely seen genre in the Minecraft event space, it’s exciting to see what the future will hold.
In the meantime, the Bingo event collaboration with Winterland SMP will take place on Easter Monday (21st April), starting at 8pm BST / 3pm EDT. You can stay up to date on this and future events on the Reject Events X and community Discord.
